MiG-21, Mikoyan-Gurevich 'Fishbed' / 'Mongol'

This tailed-delta fighter was in production for more than twenty years, and the final production aircraft were very different from the initial version. The early MiG-21Fs were simple good-weather interceptors with only a ranging radar, inadequately armed and with a very short operational range. The MiG-21P(F) introduced a limited all-weather capability, with a longer shock cone in the nose intake for a more powerful radar, a bigger fuselage spine. The second generation MiG-21M had a new engine and an again enlarged fuselage spine, containing additional fuel. The third generation MiG-21bis introduced yet another engine and a new avionics upgrade. The MiG-21U 'Mongol' is the trainer version. Recently a series of upgrades of MiG-21s has begun, usually with Western electronics. India did build MiG-21s until 1987; China still builds MiG-21s, exporting them with the F-7 designation. Over 10,000 must have been built. his was the USSR's answer to the design in the US of fast, high- flying aircraft as the B-70, F-108 and SR-71. The MiG-25 lacked technological refinement, but its performance caused much concern in the west. It was also used as a reconaissance aircraft, which in the Middle-East proved invulnerable to the Israeli F-4 Phantom IIs. Over 1200 have been built, of which about 75% were interceptors. MiG-23, Mikoyan-Gurevich 'Flogger'

The MiG-23 is a compact fighter with variable sweep wings, which combines good performance with the ability to operate from small and rough airfields. It was developed in parallel with the MiG-23PD (which to see). The first production series was the MiG-23S, powered by a R-27 engine. The true production model was the MiG-23M, substantially redesigned and powered by an R-29 engine, later replaced by the R-35. The MiG-23 was a capable fighter but lacked a look-down, shoot-down capability. Over 5800 were built. This includes the MiG-23BN ground attack version. A more specialized ground attack version was the MiG-27. Pioneer

After having been impressed by stories of Israeli successes with UAVs in the early 1980s, the Navy initiated an expedited procurement of UAV systems. Pioneer was procured starting in 1985 as an interim UAV capability to provide imagery intelligence (IMINT) for spotters for naval gunfire support from its battleships (originally launched from Navy Iowa-class battleships, today from LPD-class ships), as well as provide a UAV capability for the Marine Corps.
In 1991, AAI Corporation and Israel Aircraft Industries, Ltd., the original developers of the Pioneer system, formed a jointly owned corporation called Pioneer UAV, Inc. Pioneer UAV, Inc., was created in order to manage the program and function as the prime contractor to the US Government for all Pioneer-related activities. Located in Hunt Valley, Maryland, Pioneer UAV, Inc., maintains resident expertise in quality assurance, program management, configuration management, finance, business development, procurement, logistics support, subcontract, and contract management.

British retailer admits bra boob

Charging chesty women more for their bras doesn't win a lot of support, British retailer Marks & Spencer acknowledged Friday as it announced an end to the surcharge on its larger lingerie.

Marks & Spencer have apologised for charging chesty women more for bras.

Marks & Spencer have apologised for charging chesty women more for bras.

"We boobed," screamed a full-page Marks & Spencer ad, which appeared in British newspapers Friday.

Marks & Spencer gave in to campaigners who argued that the higher prices of the bigger bras was unfair. The retailer charged as much as £2 ($3) more for all sizes DD and up.

"It's true that our fantastic quality larger bras cost more money to make, and we felt it was right to reflect this in the prices we charged," the ad said. "Well, we were wrong."

It follows a nearly year-long campaign by members of the Facebook group Busts 4 Justice.

The women behind the site argued other chain retailers didn't charge extra for bigger sizes, soMarks & Spencer shouldn't, either. And it pointed out that the store doesn't charge extra for larger sizes of clothing, so it shouldn't charge more for larger undergarments. What's your view?

"We would like to thank everyone who has supported us on this issue; especially the thousands of brilliant, busty women that have joined forces with us. We couldn't have done this without you," the two administrators of the group, Becky Mount and Beckie Williams, posted Friday on Facebook.

"Busts 4 Justice remain committed to making things better for busty women on the high street, but for now we're happy just to be able to encourage all ladies to reward themselves and their boobs with some properly fitted, fairly priced lingerie."

Marks & Spencer is a stalwart British chain, known for classic wardrobe staples and low prices. Its underwear department is the first stop for many British shoppers and is especially famous for reliable basics.

And to give customers an added lift, Marks & Spencer also announced it is cutting the prices of all of its bras by 25 percent for the rest of May.

"I think even though we all obviously held a bit of a grudge against buying our bras from M&S we should really be grateful they got rid of the surcharge and have given us the super generous 25 percent off," Mount wrote on the group's site Friday. "They may get cleared out by the time the weekend is over!"

The notebook is believed to belong to murder suspect Stephen Morgan, the affidavit said.

The entry is dated May 6 at 11 a.m., about two hours before Justin-Jinich, 21, was shot and killed at a Middletown bookstore near the Wesleyan University campus.

The entry also mentioned "seeing all of the beautiful and smart people at wes," adding, "I think it okay to kill Jews and go on killing spree at this school," the arrest affidavit quoted the composition book as saying.

Police discovered the composition book in a computer bag in the basement of Broad Street Books near a laptop computer that listed Morgan as its administrator.

The arrest affidavit was made public as Morgan, 29, appeared Friday morning in a Connecticut courtroom for a brief arraignment. His attorney, Richard Brown, said his client will plead not guilty to first-degree murder. Brown said Morgan's parents are "very surprised" that their son is accused of murder, saying it is inconsistent with the person they know.

Morgan stood silently in a blue jumpsuit as his bond was increased to $15 million. Afterward, his sister cried and was comforted by family.

Police launched a nationwide search for Morgan after Wednesday's shooting, but he turned himself in at the nearby Meriden Police Department at 9:14 p.m. Thursday and was transferred to Middletown

3 die when small plane crashes in La.

(CNN) — Aviation officials were trying to determine Saturday why a small plane crashed in dense woods in southeastern Louisiana, killing two adults and a teenager, a spokesman for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Chief Criminal Deputy Jason Ard said the trio, apparently parents and their son, had been identified, but the names weren’t being released because there were more relatives to notify. They were the only three people aboard.
The Cessna aircraft, which took off from Slidell, Louisiana, crashed just before midnight (1 a.m. ET Saturday) near Albany, less than 40 miles to the west. The plane was headed for Marksville, northwest of Baton Rouge.
A resident in the Albany area phoned the sheriff’s office shortly before midnight to report hearing a crash, and that was followed by other calls, Ard said.Controllers at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport told deputies that they were communicating with the pilot before losing contact. It was difficult to reach the crash site because of the woods, Ard said.

Conjoined twins separated after long surgery

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) — A team of medical experts successfully separated Egyptian twin boys Hassan and Mahmoud on Saturday — the 21st procedure of this type to be performed in the kingdom, the nation’s leading surgeon said.

The boys are less than a year old and were brought to the kingdom on February 10.
While the 15-hour delicate surgery has been declared successful, surgeons at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Riyadh are still in the finishing stages of the procedure, an operation deemed successful, Dr. Al-Rabeeah told CNN.
